The HSHCS Trojans bring students together to explore robotics, engineering, computer programming, artificial intelligence, competition, leadership, and teamwork through hands-on learning.
Our Team
The HSHCS Trojans are the official robotics team of the High School for Health Careers and Sciences. Our team welcomes students who are interested in building, programming, designing, competing, and learning how technology can solve real-world problems.
Students apply the engineering design process to identify problems, create prototypes, test solutions, and improve their designs.
Team members develop programming skills for robot control, autonomous movement, sensors, computer vision, and intelligent systems.
Students build communication, leadership, documentation, presentation, and project-management skills through collaborative work.
FIRST Tech Challenge
The HSHCS Trojans participate in FIRST Tech Challenge, an international robotics program in which students design, build, program, and operate robots for an annual competition challenge.
FTC gives students opportunities to develop technical knowledge while practicing teamwork, strategy, problem-solving, outreach, leadership, and professional communication.

Our students learn by designing, building, programming, testing, documenting, and presenting projects that combine robotics, engineering, and artificial intelligence.
Robotics and Computer Vision
A robotic arm and computer-vision system designed to identify game pieces, understand the game board, make decisions, and play tic-tac-toe.
Artificial Intelligence
An interactive system that uses a camera and an AI model to identify and announce common objects in real time.
Competition Robotics
Students analyze the annual FTC game, develop a strategy, prototype mechanisms, program the robot, and prepare for competition.
Robotics Curriculum
Our developing curriculum will connect classroom learning, robotics club activities, engineering projects, and FIRST Tech Challenge preparation.
Lab safety, tools, teamwork, robotics systems, measurement, and introductory design challenges.
Structures, drivetrains, gears, mechanisms, prototyping, CAD, fabrication, and iterative design.
Motors, controllers, wiring, power systems, sensors, troubleshooting, and safe electrical practices.
Driver-controlled programming, autonomous movement, logic, debugging, telemetry, and sensor integration.
Image recognition, object detection, camera systems, machine learning concepts, ethics, and responsible AI.
Game analysis, strategy, engineering notebooks, outreach, presentations, testing, scouting, and match preparation.
Detailed curriculum maps, lessons, student resources, project guides, and competition materials will be added as the program develops.
